The Certified Dreamer's Playbook

Shooting for the Stars in the Pursuit of Your Goals and Potential

Growing up, I used to hear people say, "you can be anything you want to be," and I never really bought into it. It felt like an empty promise, something adults said to make us feel good. But now, in my late twenties, I've come to realize that those words were actually pretty spot-on. If I want to be an entrepreneur, an artist, or a tech guru, there's no reason why I can't make it happen. The sky's the limit; anything is possible with serious hustle and determination. This mentality has turned me into a certified dreamer, always reaching for the stars and pushing myself to go further than I ever thought possible.

The Certified Dreamer's Playbook

Some people may view being an adult dreamer as negative because they think chasing your dreams is unrealistic and can lead to disappointment. They believe that dreamers are living in a fantasy world and not facing the reality of everyday life. Others may argue that dreaming is a waste of time and can distract individuals from important responsibilities like work, family, and other obligations. They may see it as a lack of ambition or drive because dreamers focus on their passions and interests instead of practical goals. But let me tell you, chasing your dreams is the ultimate way to live your life to the fullest! It's about finding what makes you happy, what gives you purpose, and what sets your soul on fire.

It's true that pursuing your dreams can be challenging and may require you to face setbacks and obstacles. But when you're passionate about something, you're more likely to overcome those challenges and keep pushing forward. Following your dreams can also lead to incredible personal growth and development opportunities. It allows you to explore your creativity, learn new skills, and discover your full potential.

The Playbook

Welcome to the Certified Dreamer's Playbook, your guide to chasing those big goals and unlocking your true potential. Are you ready to dive in? Here are some tips to fuel your journey and make your dreams a reality.

Seek God's Guidance

Begin by seeking God's guidance and wisdom through prayer. Ask Him to reveal His plans and purposes for your life. Listen for his voice in the stillness of your heart. Trust that God has unique dreams and visions for each individual. While dreaming, it is crucial to surrender your dreams to God's will. Recognize that his plans may differ from yours, and be willing to submit to His divine timing and direction. Trust that his ways are higher than ours, and his plans are ultimately for our good.

Define Your Dreams

To be a successful dreamer, you need to have a clear idea of what you want to achieve. Take time to identify your passions and interests and figure out what you want to accomplish.

Create A Plan

Once you know what you want to achieve, create a roadmap. Break your goals down into smaller, achievable steps, and create a timeline for when you want to accomplish each one.

I personally like using SMART goals to help me with creating achievable goals. SMART goals are like roadmaps for your dreams. They are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. When you set a SMART goal, you're giving yourself a clear target to aim for and a plan to get there. It's like having a GPS for your ambitions! Specific goals help you define exactly what you want to achieve. Measurable goals let you track your progress and see how far you've come. Achievable goals motivate you by setting realistic targets you can reach. Relevant goals align with your passions and values, making them more meaningful. And time-bound goals give you a deadline, pushing you to take action and stay focused. So, the next time you have a dream, make it SMART and watch yourself soar!

Surround Yourself With Positivity

Dreaming big can be scary, and it's easy to get discouraged by negative people or setbacks. Becoming a certified dreamer requires surrounding yourself with a positive and supportive environment. It's all too common to encounter individuals who have given up on their dreams and may try to discourage you to do the same. However, it's essential to hold on to your own identity and the origins of your dreams. Sometimes, you may need to create some distance from such people and let them observe your journey from afar. Let them watch from the nosebleed section as you stay focused on your aspirations and prove that dreams can come true. Remember, you have the power to shape your own path and build a life that reflects your dreams and ambitions.

Take Action

Dreams don't come true on their own - you need to take action to make them a reality. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, try new things, and take risks.

When I think back to my dad's advice, it still resonates deeply: "You don't have to be the best, but never let anyone outwork you." It's easy to stay within our comfort zones and shy away from taking risks. But here's the truth: if we want to achieve our dreams, we can't settle for mediocrity. Anything truly worth having requires effort and dedication. So, let's step out of our comfort zones, embrace challenges, and work to turn our dreams into reality. Remember, it won't be easy, but the satisfaction of knowing you gave it your all is worth every ounce of effort. Let's be the ones who refuse to be outworked and chase our dreams with passion and perseverance.

Stay Motivated

Dreaming big is a long-term commitment, and it's easy to lose motivation along the way. Keep yourself motivated by celebrating small wins, tracking your progress, resting when needed, and reminding yourself of why you started in the first place.

I recently embarked on a fitness journey by hiring a trainer to help me reach my goals. The progress I've made so far fills me with pride. I'm doing workouts that I once believed were beyond my capabilities. However, there was one session that left me feeling unmotivated. I was exhausted, lacked energy throughout, and it felt like all my hard work had gone to waste. At that moment, I realized that one bad session didn't define my overall progress. Not every workout will be stellar, and that's okay. The key is to show myself compassion and keep pushing forward. It's about taking baby steps, appreciating my progress, and giving myself gratitude. The same applies to our dreams. Not every day will be filled with sunshine and success. We must learn to give ourselves grace during the tough moments and keep pushing, knowing that progress is not always linear. Don't be afraid to fail - use your setbacks to grow and improve. So, let's remember to be kind to ourselves, embrace the ups and downs, and keep striving toward our dreams.

A quote

Keep Dreaming:

Finally, don't ever stop dreaming. Remember that being a dreamer is not about self-centered ambitions but aligning your dreams with God's purposes and using them to bring him glory. The beauty of being a certified dreamer is that there's always something new to achieve and strive for. Keep setting new goals and dreaming big, and you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish.
